UNIT 3- BASES OF CURRICULUM



This unit discusses details on learning styles, the nature of knowledge, social factors, and theories of human and curriculum development for the learners. I also learned that every nature of knowledge has its content which differs from others, has its aims and objectives, and is well defined, planned, and organized. A style of learning refers to an individual's preferred way to absorb process, comprehend and retain information. Each student comes with different abilities and learning needs in the classroom. So the teacher needs to identify each student's different abilities and learning needs and accordingly design instructional strategies that will lead to success in learning for each student. There are ten social forces that influence the curriculum and the curriculum planners’ change according to the current social issues. A variety of family situations, and social economic, and cultural background shows the most influence on the learner's education opportunities.  Therefore the curriculum planners should identify social diversity and mention the strategies or methods and develop relevant curricula according to the needs of the learners. I think parental involvement is very important because it enhances academic performance and also has a positive influence on student’s attitudes and behavior.

  This reflection contains a quick summary of the lessons taught in the fifth unit-Curriculum Study. Overall, the lessons were instructive and helpful because they covered the major curricular topics that we as soon-to-be teachers need to be aware of. It is crucial for field-based teachers to be aware of the many curriculum components, how they relate to one another, and the advantages of designing an accurate and efficient curriculum. Learning the curriculum's components has improved my comprehension of purposes, aims, goals, and outcomes. UNIT 7-INCLUSIVE CURRICULUM

  Under the umbrella of the inclusive education concept, diverse students including the differently-abled are given equal opportunity to education. Irrespective of each student's specific abilities, inclusive education strongly emphasizes educating everyone to give students a sense of belonging. Inclusive education is a way of teaching that fits the needs of all students, preventing any child from being left out, regardless of aptitude or accommodation needs. In other words, neither discrimination nor segregation exists since the detrimental effects of separating disadvantaged children from their peers outweigh any potential positive effects.
